Rustico is located in the downtown core of Fredericton New Brunswick's "South Side". In addition, Rustico is known mostly for its pizza, but what you may not know is that it is the sponsor for the 5km of the Fall Classic race! Of course, we did not have pizza and decided to do further research for the blog by having their nachos. I think nachos are important to give you carbs for a 5km race, and this is why you have nachos for lunch (Maxwell's) and supper (Rustico)!
Distribution of Toppings
As you can see from the picture, there was a lot of cheese on the nachos and there was never a dull moment with the chips. Keep in mind, however, that there is not a large mountain of chips so there was not much to layer.
Quality
Let's start off with the negative: a couple of chips were burnt. The experience kind of reminds me of my experience with Freddie's Pizza where the nachos tasted like you were having a pizza with chips. I did think the nachos were tasty, but I would not rate them as high as other places when considering quality. Final point: I liked how we had ribs as our meat instead of hamburger or chicken. I thought the idea of ribs was unique and added character to the plate of nachos.
Value
The nachos are $16 without meat and $5 if you add meat. They are pricey, but I'll pay more for uniqueness.
Quantity
The nachos were great as an appetizer but I would still be hungry if I had them as a meal.
Service
I have never been checked on as much as I was with the waitresses at Rustico. If our glass was half full, boom! Waitress appeared.
Conclusion
Rustico's nachos are good if you want to go out for a snack and have a nice craft beer. They were better than Maxwell's but they are no Snooty Fox!
