The Red Herring Pub is located in downtown St Andrews, New Brunswick, where you can watch bands play live, watch sports, and have some beer and nachos. Their slogan is "where strangers become friends," and I can validate that with the friendly atmosphere and good vibes this pub gives off. There remained one question on my mind when I walked through the doors: What about the nachos?

That great top layer in the pictures is the only layer on the nachos. Underneath were chips with nothing on them, so we would say the distribution of toppings could have been better. Nacho Note: There should be no more than one layer of chips per cheese layer!
Quality
Despite the fact that there was no layering, the top layer with the cheese had a nice basil spice to it and in all fairness, The Red Herring did not shy away from putting cheese on the nachos (we did order extra cheese, however). Although the pictures do not really show it, there was pulled pork, red & green peppers, tomatoes, and onions underneath. In our second visit, we ordered chicken. I really liked how the basil dressed up the nachos and added extra flavor which complimented the other toppings.
Value
The nachos are $13.75 with no extras. If you add pulled pork or chicken, it is $5.75 extra. If you add guacamole it is $2.50 extra. If you add extra cheese it is $3.00 extra. Finally, if you add jalapeƱos, it is $1.50 extra. Even with the extras, the nachos are a fantastic value.
Quantity
They were sufficient to share as a meal.
Conclusion
While the basil spice was a nice touch, there was a lot of cheese, and the nachos were a good value, the Red Herring has really got to work on the distribution of toppings if they want to join "the big leagues" of the art of making amazing nachos.
