Drifter Brew Co. opened its doors in the spring of 2024, taking the place of an old favorite of mine: Peddler's Creek. They completely re-did the interior and changed the menu which comprises of some of the classic BBQ stuff from Peddler's Creek, and it also now has wood-fired pizza. We waited for this place to open with great anticipation from the moment we tried to go to Peddlers earlier in 2024, only to arrive at a deserted parking lot. When we did some more research, we came to find out that there would be no more Hammond River Brewing/Peddler's Creek/Barrel's Head, and so we waited. We must have been some of the first customers at the new place and we tried the excellent craft beer, pizza, and BBQ food. Then one day, I came to find out that Drifter was offering nachos as a special and I jumped on that like a kid with their favorite skipping rope. As a nacho blogger, when I hear "special", I come running, like an avid marathon runner. Ok, you get the point!

Drifter Brisket Nachos - February 2025 |
Distribution of Toppings
The distribution of toppings was good, but there was not a lot of chips so it was not hard to have a good distribution of toppings.
Quality
There was a lot of tasty brisket on those nachos. It was very tender, seasoned, and juicy. There was a lot of cheese, though it was just one type of cheese. The cilantro was a great addition on top, along with red onions and peppers. All kinds of flavors combined with the fresh, crispy chips on this snack-sized plate of nachos. There was a decent toast factor as you can see from the photo.
Quantity
This was good to share as an appetizer.
Value
The brisket nachos came to $22.00. That's a bit pricey considering the quantity and the cafeteria-like atmosphere. The cozy booths we once enjoyed at Peddlers are long gone. I do not love the new atmosphere at Drifter. The noise really carries and I do not like the new bright white paint everywhere.
Conclusion
They should have this item as a regular menu item at Drifter. I thought it was a delicious snack to share, especially after doing a very long run beforehand. I had not been able to find anything that was a real go-to for me yet at Drifter and these nachos really hit the spot. As stated above, the cozy vibe is missing in there and I did find the nachos pricey considering the small quantity.
